A-List for Party Monster
(The Advocate; 25 June 2002)– New York City club promoter Michael Alig strove for fabulousness, so he's no doubt thrilled with the casting for Party Monster, the upcoming movie about Michael Alig's famous parties-and infamous killing of his ex-roomate.

In what promises to be a standout mold-breaking casting choice, Macaulay Culkin will play Alig, a flagrantly gay club kid who traded in sequins for a florescent jumpsuit when he pleaded guilty with an accomplice in the death of fellow drug abuser and onetime roomate Andre "Angel" Melendez (who'll be played by Wilson Cruz).

Based on the book Disco Bloodbath by James St. James (Seth Green in the movie), the film marks the narrative feature debut of acclaimed out documentarians Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, who previously did a nonfiction version of Party Monster.

Also along for the ride for what promises to be 2003's hippest film: Marilyn Manson, Dylan McDermott, Natasha Lyonne, and Chloe Sevigny. Sounds very appropriately "behind the velvet rope."
