'Monster' Mac Hits the 'Party' Premiere!
July 11, 2003

Former 'Home Alone' moppet MACAULAY CULKIN is all grown up -- and taking on a very adult role as a gay-club-kid-turned-murderer in 'Party Monster,' opening in theaters this September.

Last night, Mac and his 'Monster' co-star SETH GREEN celebrated the opening night of OUTFEST -- the world's largest gay and lesbian film festival -- with a gala screening of their new movie in Los Angeles!

Based on a true story, 'Party Monster' is about MICHAEL ALIG (Culkin) and JAMES ST. JAMES (Green), two eccentric and unlikely friends who rose quickly in New York's underground club world. In the movie, premiere party-giver Michael becomes the focal point of a group of lost souls, including ANGEL MENENDEZ ("My So-Called Life"'s WILSON CRUZ ) a drug-dealing neophyte who looks up to Michael as a god. But as his drug use and the demands of the party world escalate, Michael's behavior gets increasingly outrageous -- and he murders Angel in a gruesome fashion.

Featuring an eclectic mix of late '80s tunes, 'Party Monster' non-fiction sources include the book Disco Bloodbath by James St. James and the Emmy-winning documentary 'Party Monster,' also by the new movie's directors, FENTON BAILEY and RANDY BARBATO (the team responsible for the HBO documentary 'Monica in Black and White').
