HBO shows "In Memoriam" documentary. Walking past Ground Zero everyday our grief is for the buildings themselves. There is something about the loss of the towers that actually kills the living. These buildings, but a few years old, that were supposed to stand forever - or at least outlast and outshine us - are gone. And gone with them is the guarantee that there could really be something greater than the individual sum of our lives. Their destruction is a reminder of our total irrelevance. We are nothing, and even the things we make and the things we build, will ultimately come to nothing. It’s a humbling lesson to learn. It's so debilitating to think how little we do really matters.
